Mosaic Madness!

I'm getting a bit giddy with the amount of broken tiles and beautiliscious mosaics happening, here at the studio!

If you look carefully, you can see the slow cooker (well away from danger of glass contamination!) which had this morning's soup bubbling away.

Janet - your dragonfly is gorgeous, cannot wait to see it finished and I can see you have another on the go too! Mosaic bug has bitten hard!

Georgina - I adore your fairy and toadstools!
I forgot to take a picture of your fish! It was gorgeous - please email me a photo or bring it back.

A lovely quick pique assiete saucer waiting to be grouted - on a mission to make many mosaics for Maker's day in Macclesfield, this Saturday at the Heritage Centre.

Mosaics from £15!

Join our lovely mosaic course - just £15 a session plus materials - lunch is included! What value!

Nearly forgot, here's this weeks soup recipe:

You will need:

1 x bag of ready washed and chopped casserole veg
1 x tin tomato soup
1 x tin butter beans
1 x handful small pasta shapes
1 x teaspoon herbs de provence
1 x cup of water
salt to taste
garlic and chilli flakes
dash of milk

You can tell I was on the hoof this morning!
Yes - just put it all in the slow cooker (pasta shapes in the last hour and milk just before serving) and stir occasionally.

I 'whizzed' some of it with the hand blender so it was a thick, wholesome soup.

Yum!

Making a mosaic...

At last. A sit down, with a nice cup of coffee, my Leponitts and some glass.

This is a piece I am working on for the London Hospital group project.

Happy, happy, happy

the day before

The sun is streaming through the studio window, White Nancy is looking resplendent, draped in the rays and I'm sitting at my desk drinking the best cup of coffee I've had in a long time. And I made it myself!

I have so much to do for tomorrow, I'm a little concerned it's going to be finished! At least I have the design agreed for the East Cheshire Hospice mosaic and I know what I'm doing for the Bridgend Centre painting.

Going to get off and finish my brochure.

See you later!

Launch

The community mosaic mural presentation last night went very well. Nothing signed or sealed as yet so fingers crossed the funding is available.

The studio launch is Saturday 12th March - 11.00am - 4.00pm and I am just working on the details. Lots of lovely special offers!

Now I have worked out how to operate the 'add image' there should more images coming on future blogs.

I am waiting for some fittings to arrive to get my mosaics up on the wall so next time I have a photo taken at my desk, you will not see my blu-tac'd reminders up there!

The photo of the studio shows how much lovely light I get here but also how much more organising I have to do before the learners come!

stock!

I don't EVER have to buy any more paint. I am so stocked up for my students, it's actually quite scary. I think if I held oil painting classes for the next 4 years I'd still have some left.

I feel the studio is getting together now - the kiln is unwrapped and is shining at me from the corner of the room.

Still waiting for the gallery fixings to be sorted, the sign for outside and the tables and chairs. As soon as I have them sorted and the shelves organised, it'll be 'let the classes commence!'

Hmm, still looking for life models, though...

Cardboard boxes are gone!

Phew - that's it! All the cardboard boxes are empty! Yay!

The glass is mostly organised on the shelves and although this is not going to be a retail unit, clients will be able to purchase mosaic materials either at time of their workshop or by appointment.

The bookcase should arrive next week and the studio will look so much tidier then!

I imagine by next week I will have broken the back of the organisation and may even get to mosaic! Oh - wait a minute, I have to arrange the open day. Ah - well, I think I might even do both.
