Canvas Shoes!

You can tell Spring is on its way when you can ditch your winter boots! Yippee! Don't get me wrong - I love my leather boots and they've lasted me a good 4 years, now. They were from 'NEXT' if you're wondering. But I am so happy to be in my little white canvas flats.  

Had a LOVELY morning at Mount Hall, again.  We decorated little bowls with strawberries and then had a strawberry cream tea.   

Back at the studio now and getting ready for the Monday Mosaics Class. The kiln is not quite ready to open and I am hoping the ladybirds I made for Bridget have come out ok!

Had a really nice suprise through the post! I worked with Oakwood at the Rossendale Trust last year on the  Macclesfield Town Football Community Mosaic and they put a little piece in their newsletter.  Sweet!

Congratulations Georgina and thank you for the VERY naughty (but oh my goodness - they were gorgeous!) cream cakes to celebrate the safe arrival of your new granddaughter.

Despite the rain and grey of the morning, it seemed extremely sunny in the studio today.  We had a lot of laughs.

Our music of the day was 'Jackie, The Album' which set off a stream of reminiscence - Donny or David Cassidy, putting singles on repeat, over and over again...they were the days!

I am LOVING Georgina's latest idea for her children's cupboard in the bathroom.  

Sue's number plate for her house is gorgeous - the photo does not do it justice! 

Really looking forward to seeing this grouted next week.

 Well, it is a different soup every week and I was a little unsure of this one.  I enjoyed it and think it was one of my best - I just hope I can remember everything I put in it...

RED CABBAGE & AUBERGINE SOUP

Serves 4

1/8th x red cabbage
1/2 x aubergine (slice and layer with salt to remove bitterness, for 10 minutes, then wash before use)

1/4 x onion

1/4 x medium sweet potato

1 x celery stick

1/4 x sweet red pepper

1/2 x tin butter beans, drained.

2 L x Hot vegetable or chicken stock (I used chicken AND vegetable stock)

1/2 x teaspoon garlic and chili flakes

1 x mug of passata
1 x teaspoon Herbs de Provence


Wash and chop finely all the vegetables. Place ALL ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on HIGH for  3 hours, partially liquidise then reduce to MEDIUM for 1 hour. 
Optional, add splash of semi skimmed milk.

New Courses Online

What a lovely day. The Mosaic club is growing and we had a lovely morning, welcoming our new member, Julie.  Well and truly bitten by the 'mosaic bug' she was amazed at how an empty olive oil bottle can instill such creativity! We are all looking forward to the new mosaic member joining next week.

The afternoon was equally creative and inspiring.  Lovely to meet Amanda and James, again, who are busy, busy, busy working on the Bollington Movie project.

2012 is proving to be a most creative year and I am enjoying the buzz I'm getting from it.  


I am listening to 'Paloma Faith' at the moment and aim to finish the cd mosaic I'm working on before going home.

8th Cheshire Rifle Volunteers

I hope you all had a lovely break! I had a wonderful weekend away in London, thank you.


Back in the studio and it's very busy.  Four more panels have been washed down with a pva solution and I am drawing the panel depicting the very start of the Macclesfield football club.  


I didn't have time to take a photograph yesterday of the panel which went to St Paul's Youth Group in Macclesfield.


I have left that panel in the safe hands of Mary and the youth group.

East Cheshire Hospice Mosaic - At the Sunflower Centre

I did not get to experience the day centre at the IOM hospice because Mum was too poorly to go there.

Macclesfield is my home and I have chosen The Sunflower Centre as my charity of choice to support where I can.

Those who have been following the East Cheshire Hospice Mosaic will have seen it grow.  

I took the mosaic to the Sunflower Centre yesterday and had a lovely time with lots of lovely women.

Thank you OLGA and the team for making me so welcome (and the 'magic cup' of tea which never seemed to empty!)

So much more was produced on the mosaic in the morning...

but I cannot compete with relaxation in the afternoon.

It was a wonderful opportunity to sit and add some tesserae myself, with the help of Annie.

I really did not want to leave and am looking forward to going back with the Macclesfield Town FC mosaic soon!

I am producing a 'Just Giving' page whereby people can donate £1 per tile for the mosaic so if you cannot make it, please donate a tile for everyone who has contributed so far.

Pott Shrigley school will be finishing the mosaic next week!

Macclesfield Town FC Community Mosaic

I am very fortunate to be the project manager/artist for the Macclesfield Town FC community mosaic mural project.  Funded by Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust and the Football Club, I have designed a 96 sq' mosaic which will be installed at the Moss Rose Ground.

Although an enjoyable experience, researching football history and designing the concept is hard work. However, I have thoroughly enjoyed sitting at my desk in the wonderful Adelphi Mill, colouring in the design.  It has to be done but, boy, it took me back!

I will be running Mondays as Mosaic days at the Mill from next week so please phone to book a place as places are limited.
