The Stroke Club, The Mayfield Centre, Macclesfield

Well, the biggest group yet!

Last night I took a panel for the Macclesfield Town FC Community mosaic to the Stroke Club in Macc.  

There was a lovely atmosphere and EVERYONE had a go!

I think there were a few who were bitten by the mosaic bug and even those who didn't fancy having a go at first, did.

This panel shows the fancy dress match where 'The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe' scored a goal during a Macclesfield Town FC match.

Thanks to the whole group who dried some of the green tiles for me.  As I told them - approximately 42000 tiles will have been used on this project when it is complete and pretty much all of them have been donated by the fabulous World of Mosaics in Macclesfield. Thanks Dean!

Crossroads for Young Carers Group - Macclesfield Town FC Community Mosaic

This panel is really coming on nicely!

I've had some really keen young people working on it and they've done a stellar job!

The time went so quickly last night!  

We were so busy that I forgot to take photographs for the rest of the night.

Still a fair bit to do but 'Roary' is taking shape and I'm sure my 'girls' on a Monday night will jump at the chance to finish him off!

Cre8 for Macclesfield Town FC Community Mosaic

It was my very great pleasure to meet the guys at Cre8! 

They are responsible for working on the other half of the North End wall project. They've created a sensory garden to tidy up and enhance the other side of the wall which will house the mosaic.

I felt it only fair to include Cre8 if they were interested and fortunately they were!

I really enjoyed the vibrancy of the youth group and it was so nice to be included for the meal at the end!  Not only had the group grown their own potatoes and onions but a small cohort  cooked and served up sausages and mash with onion gravy (spuds and onions picked fresh that morning!)

What a treat!

The panel Cre8 are working on shows the logo for the Silkmen Supporters' Trust AND a T-shirt with Cre8 which visualises the community involvement which is so important to Macclesfield Town FC.

It was just the two of us today...

...but we got a lot done and this panel is now nearly finished!

Just finished drawing out the panel for Oakwood at Rossendale Hall tomorrow.

Off to the Poacher's now!

the day before

The sun is streaming through the studio window, White Nancy is looking resplendent, draped in the rays and I'm sitting at my desk drinking the best cup of coffee I've had in a long time. And I made it myself!

I have so much to do for tomorrow, I'm a little concerned it's going to be finished! At least I have the design agreed for the East Cheshire Hospice mosaic and I know what I'm doing for the Bridgend Centre painting.

Going to get off and finish my brochure.

Little Creatives

When I first thought of putting 'Little and Young Creatives' workshops in the studio, I didn't think I would get so excited about the activities I would be planning.

As the studio launch is next Saturday, I thought about what free activity I could do in case lots of children turn up. Then I realised it was Earth Hour, soon.

I LOVE Earth Hour. My favourite Earth Hour was about 3 years ago and friends and family sat in the front room, everything was turned off (except the freezer), curtains were open and we had the open fire burning and candles to keep us warm and able to see. What a fabulous night THAT was! We chatted, ate toasted marshmallows, told stories. The whole street joined in and there was such a holiday feel. We enjoyed it so much we carried on, into the night!

So, back to the free workshops. I thought it would be a good idea to combine the two and raise awareness for Earth Hour whilst I was at it.

Children have been asked to bring a clean jar or a plain candle and they can decorate them to use during Earth Hour!

I'm really looking forward to that.
