After the hectic but enjoyable morning at Bollington Christian Life Church, Mike and I went for a drive and look what we found, just 10 minutes drive from home...
Goyt Valley is so beautiful...
so imagine my delight when we came across this!
'Can't get away from work' my other half laughed. But I think I am so wrapped up in mosaic that it is part of my life.
See how the central mosaic is undamaged? This is because the tesserae are smalti. The blue broken ceramic tiles surrounding the icon hav fractured in parts due to the elements.
This is called St Mary's Shrine (I believe). It is a stunning little piece of artwork and I will do some more research on it.
